Overcoming addiction
Addiction is bondage, and Jesus came to set captives free. Freedom is usually a process with help, not a single moment alone.
Whom the Son sets free
Whatever you obey is what you serve. But you were bought with a price and you don't belong to it anymore.
Jesus was sent to bind up the brokenhearted and open the prison doors. Your history is not stronger than His blood.
John 8:36
"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
Isaiah 61:1
"He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives."
2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature."
Steps that help
Tell one trustworthy believer today. Isolation is the addiction's best friend.
Remove access and change the routine that leads you there — the people, the hours, the place.
Get real help: your pastor, a counselor, a recovery group, a doctor if withdrawal is dangerous. Wisdom is not weak faith.
Build daily rhythms — word, prayer, worship, service — and let the church carry you while you're weak.
If you relapse, come back the same day. Do not let shame add days to your bondage.
