Struggling with sin — how to get free

If you are fighting, you are not disqualified. Condemnation makes you hide; conviction leads you home. God is after your freedom, not your shame.

Start with the truth

Sin promises life and pays in death. Name it honestly — no softer words. Confession in the light breaks its grip; secrecy feeds it.

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Bring it to Him as many times as it takes.

Scripture
  • Romans 8:1

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus."

  • 1 John 1:9

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins."

  • James 5:16

"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed."

Practical war plan

Cut the access. Temptation usually has a door — an app, a contact, a place, a time of night. Shut it, don't manage it.

Replace the void. Fill the space with the word, worship, prayer, service, sleep and real friendship. Emptiness is where relapse lives.

Get one accountable person who can ask you the hard question weekly.

Fast over it. Denying the flesh in one area weakens it in others.

Expect the fight to be long, and remember His mercies are new every morning. A stumble is not a reason to quit.

Scripture
  • 1 Corinthians 10:13

"God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape."

  • Romans 13:14

"But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof."

  • Galatians 5:16

"Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

  • Lamentations 3:22-23

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed... they are new every morning."
